The first classes of the University were held in 1832 at Clinton Hill, near City Hall in Manhattan. In 1835, the University established its new building on Washington Square East. In 1894, the building was demolished to construct a new building called the Silver Center and the undergraduate college moved to University Heights Campus in Bronx. The Stern School of business found its roots in 1900 with the establishment of the NYU undergraduate school of Commerce, Accounts and Finance. In 1916, the School’s graduate business program was launched in New York’s downtown business street. The School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance was renamed the College of Business and Public Administration. The School was renamed as the Stern School of Business in honor of Leonard N. Stern who endowed the School with a sum of $30million.

Students pursuing Operations Management can make a trip to Panama and study the principles of Operations Management through Operations: Panama.
