The School began teaching business in 1896 through the Economics and Sociology Department and acquired its official name ‘School of Business’ in 1927. The School saw the inception of its first MBA program in 1955.

Innovation: The School fosters the creativity potential of its students by encouraging them to come up with innovative business ideas and providing access to the latest technologies, so that they are able to transform their business ideas into reality.
Personality Development: The School’s focus is to acquire skills that will ensure the overall personality development of the student. The School offers a curriculum that focuses on enhancing the communication skills and building the analytical skills of the students. Playing football, working in groups on case studies and being a part of the various student clubs will instill essential teamwork and interpersonal skills in the students.
As a part of the experiential learning process, the School offers international trips and consulting projects with local non-profit businesses, where the students can see the application of the business concepts. The School offers over 30 unique programs, where the students can apply their theoretical learning beyond the confines of the classroom.
The Integrative Experience comprises of two consulting projects from various industries that are assigned to the students based on their goals and aspirations. The students work on these projects under the supervision of an eminent faculty member. It has been a mutually benefitting experience for both the students and the companies in the past, as the students have provided efficient and viable solutions in the areas of marketing, finance and operations. This experience has strengthened the professional network of the students and even resulted in employment offers for the students.
The School works towards developing a global perspective through its international study trips and courses. The Sorenson Center for Global Impact Investing gives an opportunity for the students to collaborate with consulting firms, banks, social entrepreneurs on business challenges and come up with efficient marketing and business strategies to overcome these challenges.
The university resides atop of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area, which is considered to be the centre for thriving and emerging businesses. The exemplary business environment coupled with the marvelous natural beauty of the national parks, and incredible art and entertainment opportunities provide the right mixture of learning and pleasure during a student’s stay at the university.
The students are exposed to a variety of events such as the Executive Speaker Series, career fairs and study trips throughout the MBA program. Here, the students get insights into all the options available to them post their MBA. The dedicated team of career coaches and career groups customize the career strategy for each student based on his/her career goals. The School offers abundant networking opportunities to its students, so that they can connect with potential employers. The career coaches train the students to deliver themselves in a confident manner while facing interviews. There are workshops, one-to-one sessions and mock interviews that aid the student in nailing the final interview.
